Emerging on the scene thanks to his rave house music and his loop-based club sounds, Evan Campbell, better known as KETTAMA, quickly won over the audience. Despite his success, the artist has always stated that his goal was not to become a great DJ or obtain recognition, but simply to share his music.
Growing up in Galway, a small town on Ireland's Atlantic coast, KETTAMA faced restrictions and early closing times for Irish clubs. At 17, together with his friend and musical collaborator Shampain, he started playing in the backroom of the now closed Carbon club. He spent the next three years behind the console in this place, uploading his productions to the Internet. With few networking opportunities in Irish clubs, he has used music forums, Facebook and SoundCloud to spread his music and make himself known.
It was precisely on SoundCloud that he received an unexpected message from a Chinese promoter who offered him a three-day tour of China, marking a turning point in his career. Back in Ireland, KETTAMA was catapulted into the spotlight, experiencing a series of decisive moments. His track 'B.O.D.Y' was played by Mall Grab, a leading figure in house music, and later debuted in Dublin. In May 2018, he performed in a flagship slot at the Life Festival, an electronic music institution in Ireland.
With the support of Mall Grab, The Black Madonna and many others, she released her debut EP on the New York label HOMAGE. The three-track project attracted the attention of Mixmag and DJ Mag, leading to the sold-out of physical copies and turning the spotlight on him internationally. Since then, he has continued to climb the electronic scene, conquering audiences at the biggest festivals with his sledgehammer house music, sharing the stage with artists such as Patrick Topping and Armand Van Helden, and recording sold-outs in Galway, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Manchester and Edinburgh.
Today, together with his collaborator Shampain, he manages his own label, G-Town Records. With this project, KETTAMA is realizing his dream of creating a community to publish music, support other artists and launch his own merchandising.
