SURGEON

B2b

Surgeon has been at the forefront of the British techno scene since 1992. His debut EP is considered by many to be a seminal work, which marked the beginning of his career together with the first publications on Downwards, generating great enthusiasm among fans of the genre. Since then, Surgeon has been extremely prolific, releasing albums on Tresor and numerous EPs on Counterbalance and Dynamic Tension, in addition to his LPs Breaking The Frame, From Farthest Known Objects and Luminosity Device.

Fact Magazine describes his style as a tough techno sound imbued with industrial darkness, but at the same time rich in groove, swing and a sophisticated sense of dub space, influenced by the contemporaries of Chain Reaction in Berlin. His influence on the current techno scene, in particular on the Ostgut/Berghain sound, is considerable.

Surgeon has demonstrated his versatility with an impressive repertoire of remixes, collaborating with leading techno names such as Dave Clarke, Luke Slater/PAS, Green Velvet and Hardfloor, as well as more experimental projects such as Radiohead (Thom Yorke), Mogwai, Faust and Coil. He has also worked with Moderat, Shed, Traversable Wormhole and Scuba.

In addition to his solo productions, he has explored new sound frontiers with the project *The Transcendence Orchestra*, in collaboration with Daniel Bean, publishing on labels such as FatCat, NNA Tapes and Editions Mego. In March 2023, Surgeon released his first album in five years on Tresor Records.

Defined by Fact Magazine as “probably the best techno DJ in the world”, he is one of the most requested artists, with DJ mixes for Warp and Fabric and a calendar of events that takes him on tour in Europe, America and Japan. He played in the most important clubs, events and festivals, contributing to the birth of House of God in Birmingham and obtaining a residence at the Tresor in Berlin. He is part of the British Murder Boys with Regis and has played live in collaborative projects with Lady Starlight, Speedy J (Multiples) and Daniel Bean (The Transcendence Orchestra).

As a DJ, Surgeon is a refined selector and one of the most inventive and intuitive on the scene. He uses techno as a means to transmit his artistic vision, mixing it with contemporary bass music and experimental electronic music in intense and coherent sets. In recent years, live improvisation has become a central part of his performances.
